Clothing List

Avoid cottons if you are likely to get wet.  Wear man made fibres instead build up thin layers of clothing.  Do not wear one single thick layer. The wrists, ankles and neck are all sensitive to the cold.Use thermal gear if you have it, but don’t buy it especially for the course. If you are participating in water activities, if you have a wetsuit and it fits, please bring it.  You will need other clothes as well.

All activities are physical – clothing should not be tight If participating in watersports or scrambling, your footwear will get wet.  Old trainers with good grip are the best idea.  Make sure you have a dry pair of shoes to go home in. Bring spare clothing – this will allow you to make changes according to the weather.

However sunny you think it is, shorts and T-shirts alone are not suitable for any activity. Never under estimate the effects of poor clothing!  Not having enough warm clothes under our waterproofs will spoil your day

JEANS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR ANY ACTIVITY!

Food and Drink

For every activity you will need to bring a packed lunch and drink.  You will need more food than usual.  Bring plenty of sandwiches – bananas and chocolate are great for extra energy. You will get very thirsty.  A big bottle of squash or water is best – cans or cartons do not contain enough liquid and fizzy drinks do not quench the thirst.  A flask of hot drink is also a great idea. Eat more breakfast than usual.  If not, you will be hungry all morning.
