CATTEWATER
PILOT GIG CLUB
The AIM of the club is to foster and
promote the sport of Cornish pilot gig racing on the Cattewater,
for the benefit of club members, particularly the youth of
the area.
You don't have to row to enjoy it.
The
CLUB currently has two gigs, which are towed to regattas,
every weekend from April to September. This is in addition
to the World Championships, which are held annually in May,
on the Isles of Scilly.
Crews range through U14s, U16s, Men's 'A' and 'B', Ladies
'A' and 'B', Mixed and veterans (over 40).
The club is an Associate member of the Mount Batten Sailing
& Watersports Centre and rows from the Centre most weekends
during the winter and nearly every evening during the summer
- see Notice Boards in MBSWC and Boringdon Arms, Turnchapel,
for Practice rosters.
MEMBERSHIP
of the club is open to:
Junior membership is open to those over the age of 10 years
and under the age of 16 years. Individuals of 16 years and
over who are interested in furthering the work of the Club
and who have paid the annual subscription.
FEES
2005 to be confirmed
Membership fees will be due for payment
annually on 1 January. Full membership fees must be paid by
a joining member if joining before 1 September. After this
date membership fees will cover the following year and include
the remainder of the current year.
MEETINGS
are usually held in the Boringdon Arms
or the New Inn, Turnchapel:
Social
Evenings - third Friday of every month
Executive Committee - second Wednesday of each month
Annual General Meeting of the Club is held in December
